Remove the strings.

Bake at 350 degrees or 400 degrees until a fork goes smoothly through, like baking a potato. (usually 30 minutes - an hour or more: depends on the size of the squash, the type of the squash, and the heat in the oven.)
Oh! I just called the pumpkin a squash! well... pumpkins are a type of winter squash. |

Out of the oven, read to remove the pumpkin meat into the food processor. (I find that blenders don't do the job. borrow a friend's food processor if you don't have one. or search Craig's List!)
