Wed July 26th, 2006 Andy lectures at the Codiga House Watsonville Andy was invited to give a talk at the Codiga Center and Museum. The Codiga Center and Museum is at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds and it's one of California's newest and most vital agricultural history museums. Andy's not old enough to be stuffed and installed in the museum yet, but he has been around for a while. He talked about the development of the salad mix industry, and his own "salad days' before mesclun became another commodity in a plastic bag. (disclaimer: these berries were photographed last season, ours will be ready in April sometime) |

May 30th Alianza School Field Trip to High Ground Organics Julia of Mariquita and Steve of High Ground gave a tour of High Ground Organics to a group of 55 4th and 5th graders from Alianza Charter School. It's a dual immersion school in Spanish and English, so Julia gave part of the tour in Spanish and Steve gave part in English. The students enjoyed seeing the owl boxes, native plants in the hedgerow, identifying the vegetables with their plants, picking sweet peas and of course picking strawberries.
